I want to begin by saying thank you to everyone that has helped me so far. Now I´m getting into deeper waters.
So I upgraded the kernel to 6.2 and installed Steam (such an easy process!!!) then researched farther.
I installed Lutris but not sure how that will come into play yet because everything is marked to disable Lutris.
I tried to install Linux-Steam-Integration but after all of the moves to install SNAP before trying to install that, I ended up with being unable to install it. But it also warned the build I was pointed at is not considered ready for prime time. So it is probably good I didn't install it.
Finally I installed Proton-GE and any game not viewed as able for Proton 8 will get routed to Proton-GE.
So my very first steam game ran without problems. I was impressed and expected everything else to move smoothly. Unfortunately my next 3 games did some updating, then integrated with the the cloud, then launched, then ... nada. Just disappeared. No error screen. No compatility message. just nothing. So I went to ProtonDB and all three have a Platinum rating!!!
So my first question is what do I do now? I really want to reach a point where I can go to Windows only for development and stay here on a regular basis. But the main games that I enjoy do not want to run under Linux Mint.
My second question is should I activate Lutris to run things instead? Will Lutris be more compatible with the Unity window apps?
Third question : I have all of my games installed on my second Nvme M.2 drive and have to point to it every time I begin Steam. If I make it default will that keep it connected to my nvme drive?
Last question: Can I configure Steam to run whenever I log into Linux?
Okay -- one more question unrelated to running games. When I start a movie on YouTube I get silence for the first second of video. Is there something I can do to fix that?
